Supporting Churches and Musicians in Jersey

The Jersey School of Church Music (JSCM) has been established to support Church Music of all genres across the island. We help support the ancient tradition of sacred music that is part of our nation’s cultural heritage.

We encourage and support churches, musicians, and church communities of all kinds, ensuring that they have access to relevant support, training and resources to sustain them in the present; and we work to inspire the church musicians of the future.

Our vision is to bring people closer to God through music.

Safeguarding

We hold to the core Christian belief that each person has value and dignity which comes directly from God’s creation of humanity in His own likeness. Among other things, this implies a duty to value each person as someone who bears the image of God and is loved equally by God, and therefore should be protected from harm.

The Jersey School of Church Music Child and Adult Protection Policy was updated in August 2022. It was developed with the Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board. We adhere to these policies at all times.

  • Support those in organ playing, organ teaching and choral directing.

  • Provide professional development for organists of all ages, and experiences

  • Create opportunities to share common interests and explore the island's organs.

  • Maintain an island-wide database of organs, and offer advice on maintenance and upkeep of the instruments.
